Despite a minimal knowledge of coding, I have had great experiences facilitating coding clubs for students grades K-8. In this session, learn about some of my favorite sites for teaching the basics of coding as well as programs for running an entire club. See a demo of the sites, learn the pros and cons, and discuss how you might use them in your school even if you have never coded! (Note: Although I have sites for as young as kindergarten, the majority of the tools will be aimed at 3rd - 8th grade) Tools include Google’s CS First, Google’s Made with Code, Code.org (beyond Hour of Code), Code Combat, Apple’s Swift Playground and more!
