Date & Time

Description
Google Slides often get pigeon-holed as a tool only for slide shows. This session will open a world of lesson design to bring a new level of creativity to classrooms. Teachers have grown accustomed to leaning on presentation tools like PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides as “stand and deliver” crutches to their teaching. This session open their mind to new possibilities of how to present and then how to re-tool these programs to shake up their lesson design. The session will be begin with demonstrating Tips and Tricks plus Do’s and Don’ts to help teacher make great presentations. This will focus on visual literacy, questioning strategies and more. Then we will jump into a world which many teachers have never thought about. Since these programs allow images, and video, floating graphics and hyperlinks, there is an endless number of creative ideas for teachers and students. Teachers will be shown many examples such as: Games, Newsletters, Choose Your Own Adventure Stories, Magazines, Game Shows, Comic Books, Sports Playbooks, Student Agendas, Blogging, and more Along with these examples, participants will be provided with many templates as well where they and their students can scaffold their teaching. For example, a comic book template complete with speech balloons, callouts, graphics, logos and layout are all in one template which they can make a copy of. These templates will give teachers AND students something they can leave from CUE and use in their classes the next day.
